VDOT Hot Spots for the Fredericksburg Region November 29 – December 5, 2015.

City of Fredericksburg
Fall Hill Avenue
(Update) Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closure between Noble Way and the I-95 overpass for stormwater structure work. Single lane closure with traffic control by a flagging crew.

Under Construction: Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park). The project will be completed in January 2017.

Falmouth Bridge at Rappahannock River
Route 1 at Falmouth Bridge
(New) Saturday, Dec. 5 at 9 p.m. – 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 6. Traffic on Route 1 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction on the Falmouth Bridge between the City of Fredericksburg and Stafford County. Lane closures begin at 9 p.m. Saturday evening and will be in place through 9 a.m. Sunday morning. Crews will repair a bridge joint.

Stafford County
Route 17
(New) Tuesday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Intersection paving will be underway at several Route 17 intersections throughout the week in connection with the Route 17 widening project. Paving will occur at intersections between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway. Route 17 traffic can proceed in both directions during the work zone, but left turns from Route 17 and side streets will be temporarily prohibited while an intersection is being paved.

Routine Maintenance Activities
New) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) – shoulder work
· Route 3 and Blue and Gray Parkway – remove concrete barrier (no lane closures)
· Route 604 (Belle Plains Road) – brush cutting
· Route 624 (Leeland Road) – shoulder work
· Route 626 (Layhill Road) – shoulder work
· Route 627 (Enon Road) – brush cutting
· Route 633 (Arkendale Road) – contractor patching
· Route 637 (Telegraph Road) – drainage work
· Route 674 (Glebe Road) – machining gravel road
· Route 727 (Monroe Farm Road) – machining gravel road
· Route 752 (Richards Ferry Road) – brush cutting

Under Construction: Route 17
Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. This project will be completed by December 2016.

Spotsylvania County
Routine Maintenance Activities
(New) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) – shoulder work
· Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) – brush cutting
· Route 2 (Tidewater Trail) – shoulder work
· Route 3 (Plank Road) – pothole patching
· Route 208 (Courthouse Road) – brush cutting
· Route 613 (Brock Road) – pothole patching
· Route 617 (Hams Ford Road) – tree trimming
· Route 627 (Gordon Road) – pothole patching
· Route 648 (Old Blockhouse Road) – ditching
· Route 702 (Curtis Lane) – ditching
· Route 722 (Tanglewood Rd) – tree trimming

King George County
Route 218 (White Oak Road)
(Update) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Motorists should expect periodic lane closures and delays at various locations on eastbound and westbound Route 218 while crews continue installing guardrail and raised pavement markers. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone.

Caroline County
Routine Maintenance Activities
(New) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 2 (Fredericksburg Turnpike) – shoulder work
· Route 207 (Rogers Clark Boulevard) – shoulder work
· Route 301 (AP Hill Boulevard) – tree trimming
· Route 301 (Richmond Turnpike) – shoulder work
· Route 605 (Paige Road) – pipe cleaning
· Route 617 (Fortune Drive) – pipe cleaning
· Route 625 (Passing Road) – pipe cleaning
· Route 627 (Mattaponi Trail) – pipe cleaning
· Route 690 (Old CC Road) – grading
· Route 721 (Sparta Road) – shoulder work

Under Construction: Route 648 (Sunshine Road) Bridge Replacement
Route 648 (Sunshine Road) in Caroline County is closed to through traffic. Crews are replacing a bridge approximately 1.1 miles from Route 647. Motorists should follow posted detour signs.
