Traffic Alerts in the Fredericksburg Region November 15 – 21

VDOT traffic hot spots for Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George and Caroline for November 15 – 21, 2015.

City of Fredericksburg
Interstate 95 (Northbound and Southbound)
(New) Sunday, 6 a.m. – 9 a.m.; Northbound and southbound I-95 traffic will be slowed by law enforcement officials near the Fall Hill Avenue overpass at mile marker 132. Crews will be moving utility lines across the interstate. Motorists may encounter brief delays.

Fall Hill Avenue
(New) Monday, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.; Traffic will be stopped in both directions for approximately 20 minutes near the Rappahannock Canal bridge so a crane can be moved into position.

Fall Hill Avenue
Monday-Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.; Single lane closure between Noble Way and the I-95 overpass for stormwater structure work. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Under Construction: Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park). The project will be completed in January 2017.

Stafford County
Interstate 95 Bridge Inspection
(Update) Tuesday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; A single lane closure will be in place on I-95 northbound and southbound between mile markers 133 and 135. Crews will be inspecting the Route 8900 (Centreport Parkway) bridge over I-95. The bridge is located near Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway).

Route 8900 (Centreport Parkway)
(New) Monday, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Crews will be inspecting the Route 8900 (Centreport Parkway) bridge over I-95. Eastbound motorists on Centreport Parkway will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
(Update) Monday and Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on the eastbound side of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) between Route 1254 (Ridgeway Road) and Route 1241 (Sunshine Drive). Crews are milling and paving in this area.

Route 607 (Cool Springs Road)
(New) Saturday, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Crews will be inspecting the Route 607 (Cool Springs Road) bridge over the CSX railroad. The right lane will be closed to traffic on Route 607 southbound from White Oak Road to Debruen Lane.

Route 633 (Arkendale Road)
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.; Motorists can expect intermittent 15-minute traffic stops throughout the day on Arkendale Road. After each 15-minute stop, waiting traffic will be released to proceed. Crews are removing soil beneath the road’s travel surface in preparation for asphalt repairs later this month.

Route 687 (Hope Road)
(Update) Monday and Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Route 687 (Hope Road) between Route 1 and the end of state maintenance. Crews are milling and paving in this area.

Under Construction: Route 17
Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. This project will be completed in December 2016.

Spotsylvania County
Route 208 (Courthouse Road)
(Update) Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Crews will continue milling and paving on Route 208 from the north end of the bridge over Lake Anna to Route 601 (Lawyers Road). Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays in the work zone.

Route 1035 (Salem Drive)
(Update) Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Motorists should expect brief delays on Route 1035 (Salem Drive) between Route 635 (Lee Hill School Drive) and the cul-de-sac. Crews are milling and paving in this area. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Under Construction: Route 17/Benchmark Road/Crossroads Parkway
Motorists should expect lane closures and brief traffic stops on Route 17 at Benchmark Road and Crossroads Parkway, located just east of the CSX railroad tracks and west of Jim Morris Road. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone. This work is related to construction of a new Virginia Railway Express train station and parking lot. This project is being administered by Spotsylvania County.

King George County
Route 218 (White Oak Road)
(Update) Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Motorists should expect periodic lane closures and delays at various locations on eastbound and westbound Route 218. While crews continue working along the shoulder and installing guardrail. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone.

Caroline County
Route 30
(New) Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Crews will be paving on eastbound and westbound Route 30 from the North Anna Bridge to just west of Route 652 (Signboard Road). Motorist should expect lane closures and delays in the work zone.

Route 301
(Update) Monday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Motorists should expect periodic lane closures and delays on Route 301 from the Hanover/Caroline County line to Route 30. Crews are milling and paving in this area.

Under Construction: Route 648 (Sunshine Road) Bridge Replacement
Route 648 (Sunshine Road) in Caroline County is closed to through traffic. Crews are replacing a bridge approximately 1.1 miles from Route 647. Motorists should follow posted detour signs.
