Traffic hot spots in the Fredericksburg region for the week of November 8 – 14, 2015.

City of Fredericksburg
Fall Hill Avenue
Monday-Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.; Single lane closure between Noble Way and the I-95 overpass for stormwater structure work. Single lane closure with traffic control by a flagging crew.

Under Construction: Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park). The project will be completed in January 2017.

Spotsylvania County
Route 208 (Courthouse Road)
(New) Tuesday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Crews will be milling and paving on Route 208 from the north end of the bridge over Lake Anna to Route 601 (Lawyers Road). Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays in the work zone.

Route 17/Benchmark Road/Crossroads Parkway
(New) The new traffic signal located at the intersection of Route 17/Benchmark Road/Crossroads Parkway will be fully operational on Tuesday, Nov. 10. Motorists should be alert to the new traffic pattern at this intersection. The traffic signal was installed in connection with the construction of the new Virginia Railway Express (VRE) train station and parking lot. This project is being administered by Spotsylvania County.

Route 1035 (Salem Drive)
(New) Wednesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Motorists should expect brief delays on Route 1035 (Salem Drive) between Route 635 (Lee Hill School Drive) and the cul-de-sac. Crews will be milling in this area. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Routine Maintenance Activities
(New) Monday – Tuesday and Thursday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
Route 627 (Gordon Road) – shoulder repair and patching
Route 1712 (Cinnamon Teal Drive) – shoulder repair
Route 613 (Brock Road) – shoulder repair
Route 1141 (Cherry Road) – tree trimming

Under Construction: Route 17/Benchmark Road/Crossroads Parkway
Motorists should expect lane closures and brief traffic stops on Route 17 at Benchmark Road and Crossroads Parkway, located just east of the CSX railroad tracks and west of Jim Morris Road. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone. This work is related to construction of a new Virginia Railway Express train station and parking lot. This project is being administered by Spotsylvania County.

Asphalt Rehabilitation to Begin on Lower Princess Anne Street
The City of Fredericksburg reports that from November 9 – 13, asphalt rehabilitation work is scheduled from Charlotte Street to the Hazel Hill Apartments, weather permitting. Please follow posted signs.

Stafford County
Interstate 95 Bridge Inspection
(New) Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.; A single lane closure will be in place on I-95 northbound and southbound between mile markers 135 and 137. Crews will be inspecting the Route 753 (Enon Road) bridge over I-95. The bridge is located near Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway).

Route 1
(New) Monday and Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.; A single lane closure will be in place on Route 1 northbound and southbound at Centreport Parkway. Crews will be inspecting the Centreport Parkway bridge over Route 1 located just north of the I-95 interchange.

Route 1, Route 17 Business, Route 218 (Falmouth intersection)
(New) Monday, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.; Law enforcement officials will direct traffic overnight at the intersection. Motorists should expect brief delays and lane closures. Crews will be performing overhead traffic signal work.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
(New) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on the eastbound side of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) between Route 1254 (Ridgeway Road) and Route
1241 (Sunshine Drive). Crews will be milling and paving in this area.

Route 633 (Arkendale Road)
(New) Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.; Motorists can expect intermittent 15-minute traffic stops throughout the day on Arkendale Road. After each 15-minute stop, waiting traffic will be released to proceed. Crews are removing soil beneath the road’s travel surface in preparation for asphalt repairs later this month.

Route 687 (Hope Road)
(New) Thursday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Route 687 (Hope Road) between Route 1 and the end of state maintenance. Crews will be milling and paving in this area.

Routine Maintenance Activities
(New) Monday – Tuesday and Thursday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Hwy.) – shoulder work and concrete work
Route 17 (Warrenton Road) – mowing
Route 607 (Deacon Road) – mowing
Route 652 (Truslow Road) – mowing
Route 627 (Enon Road) – mowing
Route 624 (Layhill Road) – shoulder work
Route 625 (Leeland Road) – shoulder work
Route 1098 (Cherry Laurel Drive) – concrete repair

Under Construction: Route 17
Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. This project will be completed in December 2016.

King George County
Route 3 Westbound
(Update) Monday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Crews will be milling and paving on the westbound side of Route 3 from Route 607 (Port Conway Road) to Route 694 (Lambs Creek Road). Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Route 218 (White Oak Road)
(New) Monday and Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Motorists should expect periodic lane closures and delays at various locations on eastbound and westbound Route 218. Crews will be working along the shoulder and installing guardrail. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone.

Caroline County
Route 301
(New) Tuesday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Motorists should expect periodic lane closures and delays on Route 301 from the Hanover/Caroline County line to Route 30. Crews will be milling and paving in this area.

Under Construction: Route 648 (Sunshine Road) Bridge Replacement
Route 648 (Sunshine Road) in Caroline County is closed to through traffic. Crews are replacing a bridge approximately 1.1 miles from Route 647. Motorists should follow posted detour signs.
