Hurricane Joaquin is expected to move closer to the Mid-Atlantic during the next several days, bringing heavy rain to the Fredericksburg region. “If the storm does reach the Mid-Atlantic be aware that heavy rain, wind and tidal flooding will be possible,” the National Weather Service said.
The Rappahannock River is projected to crest at 11 feet at approximately 8 p.m. on September 30, the City of Fredericksburg reported. Flood stage at City Dock is 13 feet.
