Sugar Shack Donuts Fredericksburg is open.
The store at 801 William St. had barely announced its soft opening on Facebook Thursday morning before people were lined up. “We are in training days Thursday – Saturday from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. (ish),” a sign on the door said. “Donuts may be limited to six a person until we are rolling full scale, but it’s all part of the perfect donut experience in the end.”
The official grand opening will be Sunday, Sept. 6. Regular hours are Sunday 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday – Thursday 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 7 a.m. -11 p.m.
Sugar Shack Donuts Fredericksburg will offer daily freebies. “Each day we post a freebie [on Facebook], sometimes for fun, sometimes for charity, sometimes informative, but free donuts EVERY DAY.” Thursday’s freebie was, “Come into the shop, rock/paper/scissors our staff, and if you win… Blammo, FREE HOUSE DONUT!”
Ian Kelley founded Sugar Shack Donuts in Richmond in June 2013. There are now five locations: Fredericksburg, Alexandria, and three in Richmond (the original at 1001 N Lombardy St., 1931 Huguenot Rd., and 1501 N. Parham Rd.) Each shop is locally owned and operated.
