I love when a Drive By Gem is true to its name. It’s a unique home for sale I discover while running errands in the car. I’m simply driving around the Fredericksburg area when — Wow!
In the late afternoon on Memorial Day, I was driving south on Washington Avenue when I saw the “For Sale” sign in front of 1204, the gorgeous Queen Anne Victorian directly across the street from historic Kenmore Plantation. Wow!
The window-rich home with a wrap-around front porch is beautiful, and it has a one-of-a-kind view. The house, built in 1902, is directly across the street from Kenmore Plantation.
The four-bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home sits on a corner lot. There’s an in-ground lap pool in the backyard. The listing says there’s a screened-in back porch, a cedar closet in the walk-up attic and three fireplaces.
I guessed the house was on the market for over $1 million, and was surprised to find it’s currently listed for less than that ($945,000). It’s still out of my price range — but then I do have good taste!
In my opinion, this is an amazing home ownership opportunity in historic Fredericksburg.
