The Massad Family YMCA is sponsoring a benefit for the wife and child of fallen Marine Sgt. Charles Strong. Sgt. Strong, a member of the Corps’ elite special command, was killed in Herat Province, Afghanistan, on September 15.
Taylor (Adams) Strong grew up in Stafford and frequented Massad YMCA. “It is our responsibility to step up and come to the aid of this patron to show our devotion during this delicate time,” the YMCA wrote on its Facebook page. The YMCA Accident Transition Team is collecting monetary donations and gifts for Taylor and the baby girl she is carrying, due in December.
Baby Strong is registered at Baby’s R Us, Target and Buy Buy Baby. Gifts and monetary donations may be delivered to the Massad Family YMCA, 212 Butler Road, Falmouth, to the attention of Delvin Richards. The YMCA is open 5 a.m. – 10 p.m. Monday – Friday, 5 a.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday and 12 – 6 p.m. Sunday.
