Explore the legacy of Hunter’s Island in the Rappahannock River from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. April 12. The short float to the island and the day’s hike will be led by the Friends of the Rappahannock and the island’s owner Mary Ellen Wheeler, local architect and history enthusiast.
Eagle Scout candidate Devin Hudson of Troop 1777 recently cleared the two-mile trail on Hunter’s Island in preparation for the trip.
Bring a bag lunch for a picnic. Don’t forget your binoculars and field guides. The minimum age for participation is eight-years-old. Meet at the Friends of the Rappahannock Headquarters, 3219 Fall Hill Ave., Fredericksburg.
The fee for the day is $30 per individual, $90 per family ($24/$72 for FOR members). Please pre-register at www.riverfriends.org
