Help Tree Fredericksburg Plant in April

by | Dec 13, 2014 | Non-Profits

By Anne Little, Tree Fredericksburg

What could be more rewarding than spending a few hours planting trees?  Come plant trees with Tree Fredericksburg, learn new planting techniques and meet like-minded people in the community.

Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, and Saturday, April 26.

Meet at the corner of Caroline and Germania Streets, directly across from the entrance to Old Mill Park, 2410 Caroline St., Fredericksburg.  We usually finish by 11 a.m., and you can plant even for an hour with us -– every effort helps.

Friends of the Rappahannock is hosting their Spring River Cleanup at Old Mill Park on April 26, so parking may be tight.  There is plenty of parking along the street and also in the George Washington Office building parking lot on Princess Anne Street.

Tree Fredericksburg is partnering with a local company and their staff for an all day planting on Friday, April 18.  If you would like to join us for that day, email for further details.

What to Expect

The holes are pre-dug so the work is not too difficult.  The planting on April 5 will be a little more work because the trees are bigger.   We plant rain or shine, unless it is a thunderstorm.

What to Bring

We supply all the tools and equipment. Bring work gloves if you have them, otherwise we supply them.  Please wear closed toed shoes.

Children Are Welcome

If you bring your children (and we encourage you to do so –- kids love to plant trees), be prepared to work one-on-one with them for their safety.  We are planting along the streets and safety is our main concern.

RSVP

Reply to [email protected] if you are able to volunteer.  We will send out a reminder and further instructions closer to the date of the planting.  We hope to see you plant with us.
