Friends of the Rappahannock held their annual spring river clean-up on April 26. Volunteers of all ages met in Old Mill Park for their assignments, then dispersed to clean trash from the Rappahannock River and nearby lands and streams. Friends of the Rappahannock provided supplies and lunch.

Officer Lee Sillitoe (left) is the city’s watershed property manager. He protects Fredericksburg’s 4,200-acre conservation easement, the strip of land which runs along the Rappahannock and Rapidan Rivers from the city some 25 miles upstream into five counties. On April 26, he and Rachel Dunaie rallied their team to begin their clean-up assignment.
