Last Days of Summer at Dixon Pool
Dixon Park Pool, 1300 Dixon St., is open 11:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. through Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, for swimming. A photo ID is required for entrance. City residents have free admission. Guests and nonresidents pay a fee: adults 18 – 54 pay $7; children 2 and younger are free; all others pay $5.
Sounds of Summer Concert Series
The Fredericksburg Area Museum & Cultural Center presents The Green Boys 7 – 9 p.m. Friday, August 30, in Market Square, 907 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg. Free. This is the last concert in the summer series.
Greater Fredericksburg Kennel Club Agility Trials
The Greater Fredericksburg Kennel Club hosts agility trials 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the Fredericksburg Field House, 3411 Shannon Park Dr. See dogs run, plus jumping, tunnels, weaves and dogware vendors. Free. Pets are not allowed.
Dino Swamp Trek at Alum Spring Park
Fredericksburg Parks and Recreation presents paleontologist Jon Bachman 10 a.m. Saturday at Alum Spring Park. Explore sandstone cliffs which hold the record of 112-million year old swamps and stream channels — ancient environments of the dinosaurs. $10/adult. $5/child. Salem Fields Community Church Labor Day Celebration and Fireworks
Salem Fields Community Church, 11120 Gordon Rd., Fredericksburg, hosts their annual Labor Day celebration beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday. The family fun festival includes inflatables, games, live music, food and face painting. The fireworks display begins at dusk. Free admission.
