Stafford County crime report, July 2-9

The following crimes were reported to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office from July 2-9:

  • ASSAULT Shasta Place, 7/6, 1:14 a.m. Deputy D.A. Robertson responded to an assault. The victim and suspect got into a physical altercation that ended when the victim’s grandmother separated them. The suspect was determined to be the predominant aggressor and was charged with assault and battery. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail pending his ability to participate in a bond hearing. Decatur Road, 7/8, 10:30 a.m. Deputy R.T. Kulbeth was traveling in the area when he observed two vehicles stopped in the roadway with both drivers involved in an altercation. Kulbeth made contact with both parties and discovered person one was driving aggressively and tailgating because he was having an “emergency.” Person two was not a fan of person one’s driving behavior and made sure he knew it. Person one would then pass person two and stop in traffic to confront person two. Person two would then assault person one. Person one was issued a summons for stopping on a roadway while person two was charged with assault and battery. He was released by the magistrate on personal recognizance. Shoppers, 1505 Stafford Market Place, 7/8, 12:42 p.m. Deputy C.S. Harding responded to a weapon offense. The victim advised he was walking towards the business when he was shot twice with what was believed to be an Orbeez pellet. The suspect then fled the area in a black Volkswagen. Using business cameras, Deputy Harding was able to identify the shooter as a 17- year-old, who was still in possession of the Orbeez gun. A criminal complaint for assault and battery was filed. 
  • BREAKING AND ENTERING Goose Pond Road, 7/8, 3:53 p.m. Deputy R.W. Stamm responded to a past breaking and entering. The victim advised she arrived home and discovered the back door of her residence kicked in. Despite that, nothing was taken from the residence. The investigation is ongoing. 
  • DISTURBANCE Cynthias Place, 6/30, 2:21 p.m. Deputy B.W. Gildea responded to a possible breaking and entering. The caller advised he observed someone unlawfully enter his apartment on surveillance cameras. Deputies arrived and located the suspect, who was wanted out of Stafford County for a felony capias offense and possession of controlled substances. Within the residence, Gildea located multiple items belonging to the suspect and among them were suspected controlled substances. She was served on her outstanding warrants and additionally charged with possession of controlled substances. Breaking and entering charges are pending. Aquia Harbour Police Station, 1040 Aquia Drive, 7/1, 5:06 p.m. Deputy J.J. Holetzky responded to a disturbance. The reporting party advised she was “forced” to consume beer while on a DoorDash delivery. Having trouble understanding the allegation, deputies questioned the reporting party further. She would eventually admit to making up the story in order to not get in trouble with her employer. She instead would be in trouble with law enforcement and was charged with filing a false police report. Warrenton Road Commuter Lot, 7/1, 8:50 p.m. Deputy S.A. Hensley responded to a disturbance. The caller advised he observed a male suspect pulling on vehicle handles before discovering an unlocked BMW. When Hensley arrived, he observed the suspect still within the BMW. Contact was made with the vehicle’s owner and confirmed the suspect had no business being in his vehicle. The suspect was charged with unlawful entry into a vehicle and was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail pending his ability to participate in a bond hearing. Decatur Road, 7/2, 10:57 p.m. Deputies responded to a large party. Several residents called in regarding improperly parked vehicles blocking the roadway and the noise. The party, consisting of over 200 guests, took hours to clear up. Multiple vehicles were towed and the organizers were issued a summons for the noise ordinance. 2200 block of Courthouse Road, 7/3, 2:37 a.m. Deputy W.E. Trainor responded to a disturbance. It was advised a known party arrived unannounced at the residence. The unwelcome guest threatened to beat up both parties before running over their fire pit. The incident was captured on video. Warrants for trespassing, destruction of property and two counts of assault were obtained. 
  • DUI Fas Mart, 620 Cambridge Street, 6/30, 2:30 a.m. Deputy L.T. Ward was in the area when he observed a vehicle traveling 62 mph in a 45 mph zone. Ward conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, who had noticeable signs of intoxication. During their conversation, Ward discovered the driver hid suspected controlled substances in his sock. The driver was charged with driving under the influence, possession of controlled substances, and refusal. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Wawa, 920 Wonder Road, 7/2, 1:17 a.m. Deputy S. Waheed responded to a drunk driver complaint. The caller advised a van was traveling at a high rate of speed before the driver got out to urinate next to his vehicle. Waheed made contact with the driver, who labeled himself as a bread transporter. This bread bringer would be toast when deputies observed several signs of intoxication and an open four pack of red wine. Deputies discovered suspected controlled substances hidden in his sock. The driver was charged with driving under the influence second offense within 10 years, and possession of controlled substances. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond. West Ridge Court, 7/3, 10:05 p.m. Deputy N.J. Amato was traveling on Layhill Road when he observed a vehicle fail to maintain its lane multiple times. Amato conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, who advised he just got “turned around”. Amato would observe signs of intoxication. The driver did not have a valid driver’s license or inspection sticker and three prior DUI convictions. The driver was charged with fourth offense driving under the influence within 10 years, driving without a license, and no inspection sticker. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. 2700 block of Richmond Highway, 7/4, 2:26 p.m. Deputy J.L. Jones located a driver who started his Fourth of July celebration early. While finishing with another traffic stop, Jones observed a vehicle traveling approximately 60 mph in a 35 mph zone. Jones conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, who had signs of intoxication. The driver advised he only had “one beer,” at a nearby park. Within the vehicle Jones located an open bottle of beer. The driver was charged with driving under the influence, drinking while driving, and reckless driving. He would watch the fireworks from Rappahannock Regional Jail where he was held until sober. Princess Anne Street, 7/4, 5:50 p.m. Deputy S.C. Martin observed a vehicle driving recklessly and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, who had signs of intoxication, admitted to consuming “a few” beers before getting behind the wheel. After being detained under suspicion of driving impaired, deputies who are certified phlebotomists attempted to conduct a blood draw. The suspect would continuously interfere and prevent this. He was charged with driving under the influence and obstruction of justice. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $5,000 secured bond. Onville Road, 7/4, 9:29 p.m. Deputy S.A. Edwards responded to a disturbance. The victim advised while at a family member’s residence, a known party drove to the residence in an intoxicated state. He would strike her vehicle with his own and made threats to “burn down buildings” if provoked. Deputies were able to locate the suspect in the Staffordboro Commuter Lot due to him posting about it on Snapchat. The driver would have clear signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming six beers. He was charged with driving under the influence, threats to bomb, refusal, as well as, hit and run. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Leeland Road, 7/6, 6:45 p.m. Deputy A.E. Epps was traveling in the area when she observed the vehicle in front of her swaying in their lane. Epps conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. The driver had signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming two beers at Falmouth Beach earlier. He was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,000 secured bond. Intersection of Warrenton Road and Banks Ford Parkway, 7/6, 11:53 p.m. Deputy D.A. Robertson was driving southbound on Warrenton Road when he observed a vehicle run a red light. Robertson conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. The driver was charged with driving under the influence and was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
  • FRAUD C&F Bank, 175 Kings Highway, 7/2, 2:49 p.m. Deputy J.E. Cordes responded to a fraud. Bank staff advised a female suspect pretended to be someone else and attempted to withdraw a large amount of money from the victim’s account. Suspicious of the suspect, staff requested additional information and when the suspect could not provide it, she fled. Contact was made with the victim who confirmed no one was allowed to access her funds. 
  • INDECENT EXPOSURE Dollar General, 1348 Courthouse Road, 7/6, 9:48 a.m. Deputy S.M. Craig responded to an indecent exposure. Staff advised they observed a male suspect expose himself within the business. Craig made contact with the suspect who advised he was only “readjusting it.” He was charged with indecent exposure and was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 secured bond.  
  • LARCENY Walmart, 11 Village Parkway, 7/2, 2:26 p.m. Deputy A.W. Sypolt responded to a larceny. Staff advised a repeat shoplifter was back at it, this time stealing nearly $140 worth of items. Deputies located the suspect on Basalt Drive and discovered she was wanted out of Stafford County for a probation violation. She was served on her outstanding warrant and additionally charged with shoplifting. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Stafford Hospital, 101 Hospital Center Boulevard, 7/2, 4:33 p.m. Deputy J.J. Holetzky responded to a larceny. The reporting party advised his daughter’s wallet was taken from his vehicle. He would later discover numerous fraudulent transactions on the stolen credit cards. Walmart, 217 Garrisonville Road, 7/2, 8:19 p.m. Deputy J.J. Holetzky was on the phone with a staff member regarding a different incident when that staff member informed him of a larceny currently taking place. Holetzky broadcasted the suspect vehicle to nearby units, resulting in Sergeant M.L. Jacobeen and Deputy M.A. Holub locating it on Mine Road. When they made contact with the suspect, he advised he wished to confess. After divulging his sins, he was issued a summons for shoplifting. Walmart, 125 Washington Square Plaza, 7/3, 8:13 a.m. Deputy D.J. Ferrell responded to a larceny. A male suspect asked staff for help with purchasing over $2,000 worth of electronics. After the items were unlocked from the secured drawer, the suspect ran out of the store with them. Burger King, 426 Kings Highway, 7/3, 9:07 p.m. Deputy E.I. Baldi responded to a larceny. The victim advised after having it his way he left a bag within the business that contained multiple items including credit cards, and a personal check. After realizing he did not have the bag, he would return to the business two hours later to discover it was gone. Curtis Lake Park, 58 Jesse Curtis Lane, 7/3, 9:30 p.m. Deputy S.A. Edwards responded to a larceny. The victim advised while swimming someone unlawfully entered her vehicle and stole credit cards. She would later receive notice from her banks of fraudulent activity. Harbor Freight, 263 Garrisonville Road, 7/4, 8:15 a.m. Deputy S.M. Eastman responded to a larceny. Staff advised a well-known shoplifter stole once again the day prior. A warrant for grand larceny was obtained. Harbor Freight, 263 Garrisonville Road, 7/5, 3:41 p.m. Deputy C.D. Quebedeaux responded to a larceny. A shopper observed a male suspect shoplifting and obtained the suspect vehicle’s license plate. Using the license plate, and numerous cameras within the business, Quebedeaux identified the suspect. The next day, Deputy J.E. Cordes located the suspect and detained him without incident. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. CVS, 450 Chatham Heights Road, 7/5, 6:34 p.m. Deputy A.E. Epps responded to a larceny. Staff advised three females entered the store and stole approximately $4,000 worth of skincare items. Walmart, 11 Village Parkway, 7/7, 1:51 p.m. Deputy F.C. O’Neill responded to a barking mad larceny. Staff advised a male and female suspect stole a pet steamer and dog food. When the female suspect noticed staff observing the larceny, she began hounding them. Motel 6, 401 Warrenton Road, 7/7, 7:08 p.m. Deputy C.A. Osborne responded to a larceny. The victim advised when he was arrested he asked a friend to watch over his vehicle. Now that he was out of jail, the suspect would not return the victim’s vehicle. William J. Howell Library, 806 Lyons Boulevard, 7/8, 5:26 p.m. Sergeant B.U. Demirci and Deputy I.E. Baldi responded to a suspicious person. Staff advised a female who was a suspect of a previous larceny had returned. When deputies made contact with her, they discovered she had concealed six DVDs in her purse. She was also discovered to have capias offenses out of both Stafford County and Westmoreland County. She was served on her outstanding warrants, as well as, charged with larceny. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. 
  • PUBLIC INTOXICATION Intersection of Richmond Highway and Garrisonville Road, 7/1, 1:22 p.m. Deputy C.D. Sullivan responded to an intoxicated person call. While traffic in the area is normally congested, it was exacerbated when a male who appeared to be on drugs was walking in the roadway. Sullivan made contact with the suspect and noticed signs of intoxication. He was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Best Western Inn, 2868 Richmond Highway, 7/1, 7:27 p.m. Deputy B.M. Stanfill responded to an unknown problem. It was advised a female was lying on the ground. Deputies, as well as Fire and Rescue, arrived and located the female still asleep on the ground. When Sleeping Beauty woke up, she began cursing and got aggressive towards deputies. Deputies also noticed signs of intoxication. She was charged with public intoxication and allowed to continue her nap at Rappahannock Regional Jail where she was held until sober. Hampton Inn, 2965 Richmond Highway, 7/2, 9:48 p.m. Deputy J.J. Holetzky responded to an intoxicated person call. The caller advised a male, who appeared intoxicated, was banging into walls and knocking on doors. Holetzky made contact with the clearly intoxicated suspect who advised he had “eleven” drinks. He was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Cliff Circle, 7/5, 1:15 a.m. Deputy B.E. Vaughn responded to a medical emergency. A female was unresponsive. As Vaughn tended to the female, an intoxicated male showed up. He would be belligerent, ripped off his shirt, and continuously got in deputies and rescues way as they were caring for the female. He was charged with public intoxication, obstruction of justice, and obstructing rescue. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 secured bond. Motel 6, 401 Warrenton Road, 7/6, 8:33 a.m. Sergeant M.E. Gordon was at the business for an unrelated matter when she observed an unbalanced male in the parking lot. Gordon made contact with the suspect and observed several signs of intoxication. He was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Falmouth Beach, 401 River Road, 7/6, 4:33 p.m. Due to the recent incidents in the area, Deputy A.E. Epps and Deputy S.A. Hensley were patrolling the area. While doing so, they observed a male attempting to hide items. He did not do a good job doing so and deputies observed him with empty alcohol bottles. He and his friend had signs of intoxication and both were charged with public intoxication. Both were held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Falmouth Beach, 401 River Road, 7/6, 7:45 p.m. Sergeant E.E. West and Deputy M.A. Holub were patrolling the area when they observed a female drinking a margarita. The suspect advised she was about to drive, but deputies did not think that was a good idea due to her signs of intoxication. She was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. 
  • VANDALISM Country Inn and Suites, 7/5, 12:09 p.m. Deputy N.D. Fonseca responded to a vandalism. It was advised a male and female suspect left the room in complete disarray. Multiple items were damaged and the cost to repair it was $1,250.
  • WARRANT SERVED Days Inn Motel, 14 Simpson Road, 7/3, 11:20 p.m. Deputies responded to a wanted suspect at the business. The suspect was wanted out of Henrico County for failure to appear, and the city of Charlottesville for failure to pay child support. At first, the suspect pretended to not be home. He was informed multiple times that he was under arrest and he could either come out or deputies would go in and retrieve him. The suspect would pick the latter option and deputies entered the room to detain him. While being detained, the suspect would continuously make a scene. He was served on his outstanding warrants and additionally charged with obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
